Arcoxia is the registered brand name for the typical drug having Etoricoxib as its key ingredient. Arcoxia which has a couple of other synonyms like Algix and Tauxib - the brand names used in Italy and is the effective drug prepared for the treatment of COX-2 selective inhibitor which is 106.6 times more selective for COX-2 inhibition than COX-1. The drug is presented by the world renowned formulators popularly known as Merck & Company. Arcoxia offer the recommended dosage of 60, 90 mg per day for the patients with chronic pain and 120 mg per day for the patients having the acute pains.

Arcoxia is already approved in over 60 different countries in the world except in the United States where the FDA – Food and Drugs Administration still needs some more safety and efficacy related data for its key ingredient Etoricoxib, before clearing the drug for human use. The drug is presently being referred for the therapeutic treatments of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, chronic lower back pains, gout as well as for the acute pains of ankylosing spondylitis disorders. Needed to clarify that the drug approval indications are not similar for all the countries where it is approved.  

Arcoxia discriminatingly restrains isoform 2 of cyclo-oxigenase enzymes – COX-2 similarly as other COX-2 selective inhibitors.
