ARICEPT   ARICEPT

Aricept is a prescription drug manufactured by Eisai Inc used to treat problems related to nerve cells in brain, specifically Alzheimer’s disease. It is considered very effective in improving the nerve cell function in the brain. People with Alzheimer’s suffer from dementia which is characterized by very poor memory, logical reasoning, and thinking. This occurs due to the breakdown of a chemical called acetylcholine. Aricept tends to prevent the breakdown of the chemical, subsequently improving the memory and thinking abilities of the affected person. However, it should be noted that Aricept is used to treat only patients with moderate dementia.  One can find lots of information about aricept by going through online resources.

Usually, patients with heart disorders, stomach ulcers, and seizures are not advised to take Aricept, as it could be dangerous. So, it’s advisable to tell everything to your doctor at the time of examination. Divulging any of your medical condition to your doctor or pharmacist is always recommended before you take aricept.

Mild side effects of Aricept include mild vomiting, nausea, appetite loss, and insomnia. In such cases, you can continue the medication and seek the advice of your doctor. But some times, you could experience one or more serious side effects like bloody stools, blood in your vomit or cough, difficulty in urination, or seizure, which should be taken care of at once. If one were to experience any of these serious side effects, it is recommended that they stop the medication with immediate effect. After stopping medication one should seek emergency medical attention immediately in such cases.
