Bifeprunox mesilate is a novel and atypical antipsychotic agent under development by Solvay Pharmaceuticals as a treatment for schizophrenia and potentially conditions such as bipolar disorder. In September 2003, Solvay and Lundbeck, its European marketing partner had announced that bifeprunox had advanced to the phase III development in schizophrenia following the successful completion of phase II trials.
