Halozyme’s first hyaluronidase enzyme for recombinant human PH20 or rHuPH20 is the stage for three different products, including a medical mechanism, a drug development agent and a therapeutic biologic. The patented technology of Halozyme is based on recombinant human hyaluronidases, human synthetic enzymes that degrade hyaluronic acid [HA], the space-filling gel type substance which is vital component of tissues through the body like skin and cartilage.  Hyaluronidases are the naturally developing enzymes that digest HA to momentarily breaking down the gel, and thus assisting the penetration and dispersion of the other drugs that are injected under the skin, in the muscle – intramuscularly, or intravenously i.e. in the vein.
 
Chemophase is prepared by Halozyme therapeutic biologic aiming the breakthrough oncology application. This wonderful chemo-adjuvant is being developed for improving the delivery of chemotherapy to earlier chemo-refractory tumors in the patients having several solid tumor malignancies such as breast, colon, and lungs or prostate, that accumulates hyaluronic acid. The chemotherapy regimens using adjunctive hyaluronidase in the earlier chemo-refractory patients have proved improvement during the clinical trials of bovine PH20 on hundreds of patients. Chemophase with the chemotherapeutic agent would similarly enhance the penetration of the drug through out the tumor, potentially improving patient survival and extending the product life cycles of many commonly used chemotherapeutic agents.
