Effexor is a prescription antidepressant. Effexor is used for the treatment of depression that actually interferes with daily normal functioning. The symptoms of such a depression could include, increased fatigue, slowed thinking, changes in sleep pattern, suicidal thoughts and worthlessness, among others. Effexor was first introduced by Wyeth in 1993. Effexor belongs to a particular class of antidepressants known as serotonin-nor epinephrine reuptake inhibitors.
