It is important that your doctor is well informed about your medical history before you use the drug. Especially if you suffer from liver disease, prostate cancer, urinary tract disease, and drug allergies.

Because Finasteride can be absorbed through the skin it is important that if the tablet is damaged in any way women who are or plan to become pregnant should not handle it. If Finasteride makes contact with a developing male fetus, an abnormality of the external sex organs is possible.    

Women and children should not use Finasteride. It should also not be used during pregnancy. Inform your doctor right away should you think you are pregnant or are likely to become pregnant.  Finasteride is not for use by women.

Recommended dosage is one tablet daily. Your doctor may increase or decrease this dosage as is necessary. It may be taken with or without meals. This drug is taken for regularly for at least three months for any benefit to be noticeable. If treatment is discontinued, gains in hair quantity will be lost.

If a dose is missed you should take it as soon as you remember, if it is time for your next dose do not take the missed dose.

Side effects are rare but can include impotence, and decreased sex drive. If you experience any side effects not listed above quickly contact your doctor.
