Januvia is prescribed either alone or with some other diabetes machines. It all depends on the patient, and the type of diabetes he is suffering from. it is up to the doctor to decide on the prescription of Januvia. However it is not advised for people suffering from diabetic ketoacidosis to take Januvia. Januvia increases the insulin in blood sugar when it is high and reduces the amount of sugar made by the liver after eating. As Januvia stops working when the blood sugar reduces, it is not probable for you to end in hypoglycemia.

The normal dosage of Januvia is a 100 mg pill to be taken once a day, any time of the day with or without food. However people suffering from kidney problems may be prescribed a lower dosage by the doctor. Januvia has some side effects like headache, stuffy nose and sore throat and an upper respiratory tract infection. there are also occasional complaints of stomach discomfort and diarrhea which is mild and should not cause patients to stop taking the medication.
