Olmesartan belongs to the category of drugs that are called Angiotensin II receptor Antagonists. Olmesartan is considered of preventing the contraction or narrowing of blood vessels , veins and arteries. Basically Olmesartan is widely used for the treatment of hypertension or high blood pressure. However, the drug may also be used for some more purposes other than listed in the medication guide as deemed fit by the doctors for typical illness conditions. 

It is suggested that like all medications, Olmesartan doses too must be taken strictly as prescribed by your healthcare professional or doctor and/or refer the label claim provided on the product for recommended dosage directions. Each of the scheduled dosage should be taken with a glass full of plain water, with or without foods. Never give-up taking Olmesartan medicine all of a sudden without consulting your doctor as it could worsen your symptoms. Do not miss out any dose and also never try taking any overdose of this or any other medications. Overdose may exhibit some side effects like: giddiness, fatigue, seizures, exhaustion and chest pain. Olmesartan is required to be stored at the room temperature, in a cool dry place, but away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture. 

There are some serious side effects from Olmesartan drug that include: allergic reaction like difficulty in breathing, throat congestion, swelling on lips, tongue, face or hives and retention of urine or little urination. In such conditions, stop taking the medication and contact your doctor on priority. Also some less serious side effects may be noticed whereby the patient may experience symptoms like: upset stomach or diarrhoea, giddiness, headache, insomnia or most likely cough or congestion. Some other symptoms could also be noticed for which the doctor must immediately be consulted for necessary medical assistance. While taking Olmesartan, do not take salt or potassium supplements without consulting the doctor as Olmesartan may affect potassium levels in the body.
