Cardiome Pharma Corporation’s product known as Oxyprim is the significant metabolite of Allopurinol and Oxypurinol which reduces the production of uric acid by acting on the enzyme Xanthine Oxidase. Allopurinol is usually well accepted and efficiently diminishes serum uric acid – SUA levels. The intended therapeutic long-tern levels for the serum uric acid – SUA is less than 6mg/dl, while others claim that the maximum SUA is below 5 mg/dl.
