It is important to note that Pulmicort is used to prevent asthma attack, not to treat it. If you have an asthma attack, you can’t use Pulmicort to stop it, whereas regular use of Pulmicort might prevent the chances of an asthma attack. People with bacterial, viral, or fungal infection are not advised to take Pulmicort, as it might decrease body’s capacity to fight infections. It falls under FDA pregnancy category B and it’s not supposed to harm the fetus. But it’s always advisable to consult your physician before taking the medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding your baby.  It is for these reasons that you should always inform your doctor about any other medical condition that you may have. While taking Pulmicort, you might experience some mild side effects like dry mouth, yeast infection, sore throat, nausea, dizziness, and fatigue. These are commonly reported and you can consult your physician and continue the medication. But you might experience serious side effects like hives, difficulty breathing, swollen face or lips in case of an allergic reaction and numbness, rash, open sores, or respiratory problems in case of an over dosage.
