SEASONIQUE   SEASONIQUE

Seasonique is an approved extended-cycle oral contraceptive for the prevention of pregnancy. Seasonique is effectively the next generation of extended-cycle oral contraceptives in a category the Company created with the launch of the Seasonale extended-cycle oral contraceptive.  The majority of oral contraceptive products currently available are based on a regimen of 21 treatment days of active ingredient and then a seven-day placebo interval.

Birth Control Seasonique

The FDA has approved Seasonique, an extended-cycle birth control birth control pill, which gives women four periods per year instead of 12. Seasonique is "the next generation" of Seasonale, an extended-cycle birth control pill which is more than 99% effective at preventing pregnancy when taken as directed.

Seasonale Versus Seasonique

Seasonale is an extended-cycle contraceptive pill, which contains a progestin and an estrogen. This drug is used to prevent pregnancy. It may be used to treat other conditions as may be determined by your doctor. Seasonique is also used to prevent pregnancy. Some women should not take the Pill, including women who have blood clots, a history of heart attack or stroke, certain cancers, as well as those who could be pregnant. This Pill does not protect against HIV infection or other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). With Seasonique, they get a low dose of estrogen during their period, which may provide benefits including less breakthrough bleeding.

Side Effects of Seasonique

Thrombophlebitis, Arterial thromboembolism, Pulmonary embolism, Myocardial infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, Cerebral thrombosis, Hypertension, Gallbladder disease, Hepatic adenomas or benign liver tumors, Nausea, Vomiting, Gastrointestinal symptoms (such as abdominal cramps and bloating), Breakthrough bleeding and Spotting.

Ashley
new studies?
I have been taking continuous birth control for years now. My doctor gave me a seasonique sample to try this last month. I just now found out that it has hormones even during the usual placebo week. I am just curious to see if there are any studies to see what benefits there are for having no break in hormone dosage versus the added risks. If the only benefit is no lower breakthrough bleeding, then I hope there are no added risks!
