Sutent – Sunitinib was developed by the biotechnological company called SUGEN, which is situated in South San Francisco, U.S. and is greatly focusing on kinase inhibitors in the oncology. SUGEN was taken over by Pharmacia and Upjohn during 1999 which in due course merged into the world renowned pharmaceutical giant, Pfizer during the year 2003.


Sutent is prepared from Sunitinib which used to be known as SU11248, is the smaller molecule receptor tyrosine kinase reducer which has been recognized for the treatment of gastrointestinal stromal tumor – GIST and renal cell carcinoma – RCC.
