Tazarotene Cream is the active ingredient used for preparing the medication known as Avage. It is the medication – the retinoid product which is related to vitamin A and is used for decreasing fine wrinkles as well as dark and light spots on the face. The medication exhibits excellent results when used with the complete skin care program and keeping away from direct exposure to the sunlight.


Tazarotene Cream is meant for external use only. It is recommended to be applied on the face once every day before going to bed or as directed by the physician. Before applying this medication it is mandatory to remove the make-ups, if any, wash the face gently with the mild cleanser and pat the face skin dry. The face should be allowed to dry completely for at least 20 minutes, then a very small quantity – pea-sized –or roughly ¼ of an inch wide amount of medication is to be taken for application. The thin layer has to be applied over the wrinkles and the discolored spots on the face. After using this medication, do not forget to wash your hands thoroughly. The next morning, apply some moisturizing sunscreen with SPF 15 or greater.

Remember to apply moisturizing cream or lotion before and after use of this medication. Ensure that the moisturizer or the medication is completely absorbed in the skin and the skin is totally dry before applying any other product. Do not touch your eyes or mouth with the hand you have applied the medication. Overdose of this medication should not be done top avert reactions. The medication is not at all meant for use on the sunburn or irritated or undiagnosed skin lesions or even eczema areas of the skin.     

Some noted side effects like: itching, burning, stinging, redness, irritation, dryness or peeling may be experienced.
