ZEGERID   ZEGERID

Zegerid contains omeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), and sodium bicarbonate, an antacid. Proton pump inhibitors are highly effective treatments for acid reflux disease (also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD) Zegerid (omeprazole) is the First and Only Immediate-Release Proton Pump Inhibitor, providing rapid release of the active ingredients and continued acid control with once daily dosing.

Zegerid Medication

Zegerid medication is indicated for the short-term treatment of active duodenal ulcer, heartburn and other symptoms associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), the short-term treatment (4-8 weeks) and maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis which has been diagnosed by endoscopy, the short-term treatment (4-8 weeks) of active benign gastric ulcer, and for the reduction of risk of upper gastrointestinal (UGI) bleeding in critically ill patients.

Side Effects of Zegerid

The most commonly reported adverse events with Zegerid are diarrhea, headache, and abdominal pain. In seriously ill patients treated with Zegerid, adverse events usually reflected the serious, underlying medical condition of the patients, and were similar for patients treated with Zegerid and with the comparator (acid-controlling) drug. Symptomatic response to therapy does not prevent the presence of gastric malignancy. Atrophic gastritis has been noted infrequently in gastric corpus biopsies from patients treated long term with omeprazole.

Zegerid 40 mg

Zegerid Powder for Oral Suspension 40 mg is a unique immediate-release formulation of omeprazole that quickly reaches peak plasma levels (in approximately 30 minutes) and provides strong acid control, with a median 24-hour intragastric pH of greater than 4 for 18.6 hours after repeated once-daily dosing.
